  • Because of its isolation for centuries Baracoa, at the eastern end of Cuba, is one of the most exotic places on the island. Despite its remote location it is a very popular tourist destination and for many travelers a visit is a must on their holidays in Cuba.
  • Also in Baracoa the casa particulares represent the most economical way for tourists to stay. You can find the Cuban inns all over the city, but in the high season, from October to April it is advisable to book in advance in order to avoid stress.
  • Landlords offer their tenants breakfast and hot meals. Especially in Baracoa with its attractive and exotic cuisine you should consider to make use of this gastronomic service.
  • There is also laundry service. The price depends on the quantity and type of clothing.
  • Besides the casa particulares organize excursions, call you a taxi and offer dance classes, e.g. Salsa.
  • In Baracoa bicycle is a popular means of transport among tourists, so most of the hostels rent them to their customers.
  • For a rental car is provided parking - or for free or for about 1-2 CUC per night.
  • Those who travel Cuba by Viazul bus, will arrive at the bus station Terminal Interprovincial de Omnibús, Calle José Martí street at the northern end of the town.
  • Previously, the collection should be agreed with the landlord of the casa particular Baracoa. If you don't carry too much luggage, you can rent a bicitaxi rickshaw. The price of a ride shouldn't exceed 3-5 CUC.
  • The Gustavo Rizo airport (BCA) is on the other side of the bay. Here are landing the weekly flights from Havana.
    To get downtown take a taxi or bicitaxi, which is cheaper but also slower.
  • In the Havanauto office you have the possibility to rent a car. This is very useful for people who want to explore the surroundings of Baracoa.
  • On one side are the things to visit within the city of Baracoa and secondly the beautiful scenery that surrounds it, explains the great attractiveness of this tourist destination in Eastern Cuba.
  • Here in the oldest city in Cuba there are three ancient Spanish forts: The Fuerte Matachín at the south end of the seafront is now the Municipal Museum. Here you can see interesting objects of different times of the interesting history of this Cuban region.
  • Another fortification of the former Spanish colonial power is located on the highest point of Baracoa and is named Castillo Seboruco.
    Nowadays this is the Hotel El Castillo. Here you have stunning panoramic views of the area.
    For a fair price you can use the pool and the terrace of the place without the obligation to stay in one of the rooms.
  • The third fortress is the Fuerte La Punta. It is very close to the bus station by the shore of the Bay of Baracoa and serves as a restaurant.
  • In the surroundings you find hidden bays with wonderful beaches and a great landscape with many possibilities for outdoor activities.
