The province of Ciego de Avila is located in Central Cuba between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
Here, in Cuba's narrowest province, are located the Jardines del Rey (Garden of the King) islands, including Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, which are top destinations for some perfect beach holiday.

80 km off the southern coast you find the Jardines de la Reina (Garden of the Queen) - still untouched islands by mass tourism. Here you have best conditions for diving, snorkeling, fishing and bird watching.

The Laguna de la Leche, near the small town of Moron, in the north of Ciego de Avila, the largest inland water of Cuba, is ideal for fishing.

The friendly capital city of Ciego de Avila with its numerous buildings in neoclassical style invites to a city tour and offers itself as a stopover for people, traveling to the more eastern parts of Cuba.

Ciego de Avila city

Park in Ciego de Avila

Ciego de Avila, the eponymous capital city of the province, is also known as the city of porches. Everywhere one sees the characteristic stucco-covered stems in the front of the flat houses.

In the Provincial Museum you can learn about the history of the city and for example, get information about La Trocha:
Built by the Spaniards in the 18th century, this system of military defense, formed by castles and walls, stretched across all the province in order to protect Cuba's safer west against rebel attacks from eastern Cuba.

Ciego de Avila is one of the least untouched cities in Cuba, making it an excellent place to know life from the Cuban's perspective.

Even without famous sights, the friendly and clean city of Ciego de Avila leaves its visitors with a good impression.
Who makes here a stop on his way to the eastern provinces or vice-verse and strolls a few hours through the city, will not regret it.
